2018, Performance / Video / Intervention
Ming Contemporary Arts Museum, Shanghai/CN
In their work, Willimann/Arai use and develop analogue and digital translation methods which serve as a communication tool in situations and contexts in which no common verbal language exists as a base.
In this intervention, Willimann/Arai communicate – separated from the audience through a glass window – over a monitor with the visitors of the museum. In an interactive half- hourly shown video-lecture-performance, Willimann/Arai present and reflect their specific knowledge about nonverbal communication and explore the potential of online-translation applications and their poetic qualities.
The audience can join a group discussion on WeChat via a QR- code and by means of WeChat’s integrated translation-app.
