The gift exercise

In their long-term research The gift exercise, Willimann/Arai investigate hospitality as a social technique in dealing with the “other” or “foreign”. Within the framework of a series of context-specific settings called Invitations, they explore the complex relationships between guests and hosts, the power dynamics and the inherent instability and reversibility of these roles. In their recent works, Willimann/Arai examine to what extent concepts of hospitality can be applied to interspecies relationships and entanglements.
